Tooth coloured fillings, also known as Composite Resin, are a cosmetic alternative to the old style silver-mercury (amalgam) fillings. They are made of a plastic material mixed with small glass particles and are tooth coloured, rather than silver. They are natural looking and are suitable for repairing cavities in any tooth.
The benefits of tooth coloured fillings
- Natural looking
- Stronger because it bonds better to the surrounding tooth
- Safer than silver-mercury (amalgam) fillings
- Suitable for even the smallest of holes
After removing the decay we will place layers of composite resin filling material into the area to be repaired. Each layer of the composite resin material is hardened by exposure to a special light. These fillings are ready to bite on straight away.
